Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy focuses on empowering health and well-being through the individualised application of the teachings and practices of yoga. My motivation as a yoga therapist is to share the art and science of yoga with its many possibilities. The process towards health and well-being is supported by the functional use of the body in yoga asana or postures and guided support for the mind and emotions through conscious awareness. Yoga therapy is based on client led collaboration with the therapist. It is not necessary to have practiced yoga before. Also, note that Yoga therapy is adjunctive/complementary to other kinds of client care and not a stand-alone solution. This can include both conventional medical treatments and other complimentary therapies.

Those who wish to develop their natural wellbeing may find yoga therapy a useful route. Yoga therapy is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga. People may be taught one-to-one or in a therapy group setting.
Yoga therapy may help with many issues and can be appropriate for a wide range of ages and lifestyles as well as those looking for a healthier way of life. All that is needed from the participant is the desire to themselves and the willingness to practise regularly.
Through practising a yoga therapy programme you will, for example, become more aware of posture and breathing. You may also find regular practice can help to promote relaxation, aid sleep and relieve tension; it may help to contribute to an increased sense of wellbeing and a positive mood.
The yoga therapist will collaborate with you to develop a plan tailored to your needs. This may include one or more of a range of techniques such as yoga postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, working with sound, reflection, and/or meditation. The number of sessions likely to be needed will depend on you and your needs.
